New Friends, part II

Over the last couple of months I’ve added several knitting blogs to my bloglines list. Lately I haven’t had a whole lot of time to read them, but I thought I should add them to my blogroll here and give a few a special mention. After all, people spend a lot of time and effort to put themselves out there in cyber land…

First, The Lumpy Sweater. This is a teen knitter with a sense of humor and loads of energy. She is busy organizing other teen knitters and events. I wish her all the best in her knitting adventures.

Adventures with the Slowest Knitter is always a fun read.  She’s so busy with knitting and spinning and just plain living!
Squirrelly Knits got my attention when she had a pattern published on Her blog is so readable and I’m looking forward to her next design. I’m definitely going to make her lovely vest.

Fiber Dreams must be mentioned because of her beautiful designs. As soon as I finish my socks I’m trying one of her designs.

I really appreciate someone who just puts herself out there. Sleep is for Suckers is just that. It’s not glamorous, but it’s real.

And how can you argue with a site that has the tag line: “We might knit, but we won’t take your shit”. That would be the Bad Knit Girls of course. Tattoo optional.

How can I not mention Cookie and Kristi’s blog? Cookie of the fabulous Pomatomus and other great designs. They are at Knitters Anonymous.

This is not the complete list. I’ll post more when I’ve had more time to read more.

    Hi Alex-

The garter stitch heel on my annetrelac socks was my mod, not the patterns. The mini-flap and gusset is my “invention” to give short row heels more depth and better fit.

A short row garter stitch heel is like any other double wrapped short row heel, meaning you wrap the “turning” stitch on the decrease rows and you wrap them again on the increase rows BUT unlike the standard short row heel, you don’t have to pick up the wraps because the garter purl bumps hide the wraps!

Hope that helps….I’m sure if you do a google search you’ll find more info! 🙂

Oh I forgot to add, the tutorial for the mini flap and gusset heel is on my sidebar and the instructions are also included in my free pattern “Lizzie’s Lacy Ribs.

Thanks for mentioning the Lumpy Sweater! I was away for 2 days, so I didn’t catch your link right away. I try hard to make the blog upbeat and fun, so I appreciate when people enjoy it.
