When Stella arrived at our house she looked so bare and cold. I knew she needed a sweater. Yesterday evening I made her one and today I gave it to her:
Now, before any tree lovers or dendrologists start raving about how bad this is for a tree, let me first say that it fits loosely so she has plenty of room to grow and for air circulation. If the sweater or tree shows ANY sign of mold or anything out of the ordinary, I will remove the sweater immediately.
But isn’t it sweet? The neighbor woman happened by when I was sewing it on. She laughed and seemed to get the joke. Her young daughter on the other hand looked at me like I was crazy and said nothing.
This raised a discussion between DB and I about how the Dutch look into each other’s windows. It’s a very Dutch thing:
- Build your house with really big front windows.
- Don’t put up any curtains.
- When you walk by other people’s houses, be sure to look in to see what their houses are like inside.
- Complain about the people walking by looking in your house.
