Stealth Stash

Sometimes yarn appears in my stash so quietly that I hope no one notices.  Unfortunately I’m usually not home during the day so it’s someone else who accepts the small package into the house.  Busted.

My latest stash purchases were thanks to Ravelers who were DE-stashing.  Both of them I just happened to see while browsing around Ravelry and just couldn’t help myself.  First, these wild colors from Lorna’s Laces:

I bought this from a woman who actually lives in Amsterdam, which was a nice coincidence.  I didn’t have to pay any shipping charges since we met for coffee at Vapiano and made the transaction.  I had wanted to try Lorna’s Laces and this was the perfect opportunity.  It’s really squishy and soft and pretty.  I just hope when I knit it up it doesn’t pool in strange ways.  We shall see!

I liked the feel of it so much that when I saw this same yarn in grey, for a really good price and with FREE shipping (!) I just couldn’t pass it up.  It will make some nice dress socks to wear with black pants.

I really like all these beautiful fingering weight yarns that are now available.  Not wanting to sound like a grumpy old woman, but when I was first learning to knit there was NOTHING like this kind of yarn or pattern choice.  We are all so SPOILED now with the choices we have.  With all this lovely stuff to work with, I’d really like to come up with some clothes in this weight yarn.  I mean, why keep all this beauty on your FEET?

I love the wild colors. Do you know what you will make of it yet?

I’m not sure what I will make yet. Maybe something from Cookie A.’s new book!
