As you can see, at Parnasia beach they aren’t bothering to clear the sand away from the tables at the lower tier of the restaurant. We sat above this spot today, drinking hot chocolate and recovering from the bike ride to the beach.
Bike ride? you ask, what happened to the running? No running for me today, or yesterday, or probably this coming week. My knee is hurt. It needs rest and hopefully between now and the Dam to Dam will it have enough rest so that I can run that race still. If I can run it, it won’t be a very good result, but at least I want to try.
What a bummer, anyway.
I don’t know how I hurt it. Last Sunday after running my measly 8km and walked the other 3km, it just hurt a lot and hasn’t gotten completely better yet. Maybe it needs to be taped or banded up somehow to have some extra support. I’m going to try to get in to see a fysiotherapist asap.
But anyway, this morning neither DB nor I had ANY desire to go to the gym. But I INSISTED that we get out and do something to stretch the muscles and clear the head. We biked my running route. It was cloudy but not cold, which made it perfect running weather 😦 . I saw a LOT of people running today. I guess they are training for the Dam to Dam or maybe the Amsterdam marathon. I was jealous.
After drinking our hot chocolate we walked along the beach almost as far as Bloemendaal-aan-Zee, then walked back and biked home. It was good to get out and get some kind of exercise anyway. Who knows how long this weather will hold. Summer is over and pretty soon it will be too cold to bike to the beach.
