My friend Nancy is busy creating something entirely new – brioche lace. She has several patterns and samples she’s working on. One of them she made into a scarf and posted photos of it on Ravelry. Since then she’s received lots of requests for the pattern. I am now busy testing that pattern. The above is one side, with 2 pattern repeats wide and 1 pattern repeat long (plus a few rows). Here’s Nancy’s finished version:
It’s really pretty work, but takes some getting used to. I made 8 rows and then decided to rip it out and start over again. The second try went much much better. You have to get the hang of it and then it goes easily. You have to have experience with two color brioche already. Here’s the other side of my piece:
I have a couple of questions for Nancy about this pattern, but I’m sure to get that cleared up Monday night. I’m using these colors in the test piece because they are obviously so different and that makes is easy to keep track of what I’m doing. I have some lace yarn in my stash that I think would look great in this pattern (or any brioche lace). I’ll be sure to post that when I start it!
Meanwhile, I’m busy with Mom’s scarf and DB’s scarf. More photos of those coming up this week.
Oh, this really looks beautiful! Wendel told me already that it is quite a job.
